October 2022

Dear Parents,

October has arrived and the children are doing wonderfully. We’re so happy to see them each day and our school year is off to a great start.

We’ve made a little adjustment with drop-off in the morning and the teachers are opening 5 minutes early to give everyone time to get in by 9:00. If your child is going to be absent for any reason, please let us know (by phone or email).

We’re so happy to be able to hold our annual Fall Family Picnic again this year. It will take place on Saturday, 10/15 from 11:30-2:30pm (if you haven’t yet signed up on the drop-off doors but plan to come, please sign up by Friday, 10/17 so that we know how much food to purchase). The petting zoo with an assortment of animals, including an alpaca and pony for pony rides, will be here from 12:00-2:00pm. And our music teacher, Mr. Matty, will be here to entertain the children at 1:00pm and we have lots of fall/Halloween arts & crafts. Our Book Fair, with Main Street Books, will be taking place in the church for the duration of the picnic with a nice assortment at great prices (the books are available for purchase at the book fair and you can also purchase books online). You can also visit the Book Fair on Wednesday 10/12, Thursday 10/13, and Friday 10/14 after drop-off at 9:00am and 12:30pm as well as at pick-up time…11:30am & 3:00pm.

October is also “Fire Safety Month” and each year the Eastchester Fire Dept. makes several visits to Creative Playtime to go over with the children what to do in case of fire and how to stay safe. The children really enjoy their visit. Captain Pintavalle also always brings each child a fire hat, coloring book/crayons, and stickers. They will be visiting Creative Playtime on Thursday, 10/13 and Friday, 10/14.

We’ll also be having a visit from Joanne, the dental hygienist from Main St. Pediatric Dental in Tuckahoe. Joanne comes each year and reads the children’s book she wrote about visiting the dentist. She also does a nice presentation with each class showing the children how to take care of their teeth (each child also gets a new toothbrush/toothpaste and coloring page). Joanne will be coming on Monday, 10/17 and Tuesday, 10/18.

Another annual tradition is our school wide Halloween Parade where we all gather outside; 2’s, 3’s, & 4’s in costume and parade down Alida St. We will be holding the parade this year on Monday, 10/31. If your child doesn’t attend school on Mondays, they are welcome to join us for the parade. We will have a parade for AM children which will begin at 9:15am and one for PM children at 12:45pm. Children from the Full Day class will participate in the PM parade.

Following the parade, there will be refreshments outside in front of the church for everyone. Parents are welcome….and feel free to wear a costume as well (not too scary though).
