December Newsletter

Dear Parents,

December is here! We hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. The children had their Friendship Feasts with each class making something special for everyone to share. We were happy to celebrate the holiday and to talk about all we’re thankful for. We enjoyed celebrating Hanukkah on 12/1 & 12/2 with special books, art projects and latkes and applesauce. On 12/9 & 12/10 we will be reading books about Kwanza and next week we’ll be focusing on Christmas.

And now that the holidays are upon us, it’s a fun and busy time but can be stressful, even for children. So the teachers really try to stick to their routines here at school to help make this busy time as calm as possible.

Our multicultural holiday concerts will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 21st at 9:30am for the 2’s and 10:00am for the 3’s, upstairs in the church followed by classroom parties downstairs (2 guests per child…not counting younger siblings and we ask that all guests please wear masks). On Wednesday, Dec. 22nd, we will have a concert for the 2’s at 9:30am. The 3’s will have their concert at 10:00am, followed by the 4’s at 10:30am. Again, 2 guests per child…not counting younger siblings and followed by classroom parties downstairs. The last concert will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 22nd at 12:45pm for the PM 3’s and 1:15pm for the PM 4’s followed by classroom parties. We won’t be having the extended day programs on Wednesday, Dec. 22nd and dismissal will take place following the classroom parties.

Our enrichment programs for 3’s and 4’s in yoga, art, soccer, golf, and literacy will end the week of 12/13 for the fall session. I will email out the registration forms for the winter session for all the programs on Thursday, 12/9 (and I will also place the forms in the backpacks). The enrichment programs will follow the same schedule and will begin the week of January 10th for the winter session. We can take up to 14 children for each program with the exception of literacy where we can take 10-12.

*** REMINDER: CREATIVE PLAYTIME FOLLOWS THE EASTCHESTER SCHOOL DISTRICT WITH REGARD TO CLOSING FOR BAD WEATHER. IF EASTCHESTER IS CLOSED, WE ARE TOO. IF EASTCHESTER HAS A DELAYED OPENING, CREATIVE PLAYTIME OPENS AT 10:00AM. I WILL EMAIL YOU AS SOON AS I HEAR OF A SCHOOL CLOSURE OR DELAYED OPENING.
