Dear Parents,
December is here! We hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. The children had their Friendship Feasts with each class making something special for everyone to share. We were happy to celebrate the holiday and to talk about all we’re thankful for. And now that the holidays are upon us, it’s a fun and busy time but can be stressful, even for children. So the teachers really try to stick to their routines here at school to help make this busy time as calm as possible.
We will be celebrating Hanukkah with latkes and applesauce as well as books and art projects on Monday, Dec. 9th and Tuesday, Dec. 10th .
We will also be celebrating Kwanzaa on Thursday, Dec. 12th and Friday, Dec. 13th with special snacks and books.
Our Multicultural Holiday Concerts will take place on Thursday, Dec. 19th and will follow the following schedule: For Children in the AM 2’s, AM3’s & AM4’s: The concert begins at 9:30am upstairs in the church. Following the concert, the families are invited downstairs to the classrooms for holiday parties. For Children in the PM 2’s, 3’s & 4’s: The PM concert begins at 1:00pm upstairs in the church. Following the concert, the families are invited downstairs to the classrooms for holiday parties.
**Children who don’t normally attend school on Thursdays are invited to take part in the concerts and parties. **Full Day 2’s will participate in both concerts. Following the concerts and parties, school will resume its regular schedule. After drop-off at 9:00am & 12:30pm, please find a seat upstairs in the church. The children have been practicing (we have a couple of new songs this year). I think you will enjoy the concert.
*** REMINDER: CREATIVE PLAYTIME FOLLOWS THE EASTCHESTER SCHOOL DISTRICT WITH REGARD TO CLOSING FOR BAD WEATHER. IF EASTCHESTER IS CLOSED, WE ARE TOO. IF EASTCHESTER HAS A DELAYED OPENING, CREATIVE PLAYTIME OPENS AT 10:00AM. I AM ON THEIR AUTOMATED CALL LIST AND I WILL EMAIL YOU AS SOON AS I HEAR OF A SCHOOL CLOSURE OR DELAYED OPENING.
The holiday break starts on Dec. 20th and we return to school on Jan. 6th , 2025. The enrichment programs for the winter session will begin the week of Jan. 13th .
